How To Get A Free 16 Slot Bag

Collectors rejoice! In patch 7.3.5, Blizzard has added a way to get four more backpack slots so you can happily continue to squirrel away. The new backpack slots are free, but there is a catch — you’ll need to beef up security on your account. There are two steps to the process. First, you’ll need to attach an Authenticator to your account. The Authenticator mobile app is free for both iOS and Android systems. Or, if you prefer your push buttons to be physical, you can purchase an Authenticator through the Blizzard Gear store. Attaching the Authenticator to your account will also get you an adorable Core Hound Pup to call your own.

Declaring that a 24 slot bag in the collector's edition means gear will be for sale for cash within a month is a tad silly given precedents like that, especially when considering how greedy everyone claims Activision is and what sort of pressure they would obviously be bringing to bear on Blizzard to do that sort of thing to bring in more money. There are 20 slot bags that can be obtained from Fractal vendors and WvW vendors. You can also buy a 20 slot bag with Candy Corn Cob from the Halloween event. You can also get a 20 slot bag on the market, but even the cheapest one will cost you over 10 gold. There are two 20 slot bags that you can get from completing achievements. The Retreat Bag is a simple zippered pouch with a wide base and a wide structured opening. There is a casing in the top where you insert two wire frames (one on each side), which helps it stay open when open, and helps turn the corners down when closed.

But there’s a part two to the process as well. In addition to the Authenticator, you’ll need to add Blizzard SMS Protect to your account as well. SMS Protect lets you securely perform some account actions from your mobile phone. With SMS Protect, you can remove an Authenticator from your account, recover your account name, or reset your password.

And if you’d like some additional security on top of that, you can set up SMS Protect to text you in the event that your password is changed, or security features are added and removed. The text message notifications are optional, however, if you’d rather not have the service texting your phone. Blizzard hsd set up a handy FAQ with instructions on adding Blizzard SMS Protect to your account over on Battle.net.

Once you have both of these security features in place, you’ll automatically get four extra slots in your backpack. The backpack slots are account-wide, so those new alts you’re taking through all those new leveling changes will have more space to work with.

Honestly, I’m perfectly okay with this kind of trade-off. The last thing any player wants is to have their account security compromised. Beefing up your account security is never a bad thing. And getting extra backpack slots out of the bargain? That’s a bonus as far as I’m concerned. The additions of the Wardrobe and the Reagents tab may have opened up my bag space considerably, but I’m always going to find new useless stuff to collect. The Bag slots or Inventory[1] are located above the Micro menu which contains a backpack and 4 slots for bag items. The default backpack is a 16-slot container, and it can thus hold sixteen items – one in each slot. New bags you acquire can be smaller containers, or bigger than your backpack.

Some people considered the key ring button part of this area, but it has since been removed.

Your inventory in the game. All items not equipped on your character are stored here. One backpack is automatically provided for you. To fill the other four slots, you must purchase, find, or make additional bags.[2]

While the bar has five slots only four are changeable, the slot at the right-most end contains the backpack, which cannot be removed or replaced. Attempting to remove a bag from its slot with items will result in the message 'Can't put non-empty bags in other bags.'

Each character can purchase up to seven bag slots in the bank. The cost of the bag slots in the bank increases with each extra slot purchased, starting at 10, then increasing to 1, then 10, then 25 for the rest, for a total of 111 10 for all seven slots.

Empty bag slots that do not have a bag equipped cannot hold items (other than bags).
